The Sagra Musicale Malatestiana is one of the most ancient events of
Italy. As a matter of fact, its birth dates back to the summer of 1950
when Carlo Alberto Cappelli, supervisor of Bologna’s Teatro Comunale in
those days, was charged by the Tourist Bureau in order to design and
organize a series of symphonic concerts with the aim of extending
Rimini’s tourist season.Since then, the Sagra Musicale
Malatestiana has hosted the most prestigious conductors, soloists and
orchestras firmament of international music and therefore, considering
both numbers and its work performed about the training of the public,
handed over to a wide territorial community perhaps one of the most
precious cultural and civic heritages as well as a prestigious cultural
event, among the most long-lived in Italy.
